After yesterday’s disappointment, Cameron Hill has demonstrated his overtaking prowess in the final Toyota 86 Racing Series race at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, charging from 33rd on the grid to 14th place in just four laps of green racing.
The effort was a fine reward for Hill and his family-run team, who worked long into the night to repair the usedtrucks.sydney/National Capital Toyota/Anytime Fitness Toyota 86 after the collision in yesterday’s second race.
“As soon as I drove out of the pits for the formation lap, the car felt perfect – you wouldn’t have known it sustained any damage yesterday,” Hill said.
“I’m so proud of my team and thankful for their support – they worked tirelessly to ensure I had a competitive and safe package for today.
“The race was always going to be hard, starting so far back, but I felt confident and was able to pass cars all over the track.
“Unfortunately this weekend’s results have put us out of contention for the title but we’ll regroup and look to bounce back with some more wins in the final round at Newcastle, and hopefully secure the runner-up spot,” Hill concluded.
