A wide-eyed Cameron Hill has finished inside the top 10 in his first day of official practice for the Porsche Wilson Security Carrera Cup Australia at the Adelaide 500 today.
The Southern Star Truck Centre/Anytime Fitness driver was ninth-fastest in the first practice session and 10th in the second, and says there is more pace to be found.
“It was a very big learning curve today; I’m still very new to driving cars this fast, and the track is a real challenge – the walls are very close!” Hill said.
“I did my quickest lap on the last lap of the second session, which shows we are improving.
“The car felt good overall, and through some analysis we’ve been able to work out the main areas where I can gain time. There are definitely some areas I need to work on with my driving.
“Heading into qualifying tomorrow, we’ll look to build on what we learned today – it’s a competitive and high-quality field, so I know we’ll have to work hard for every position.”
Qualifying will be held at 8:35 tomorrow morning, with the first race at 12:45.
