Cameron Hill says his team’s technical alliance with the GWR Australia operation has considerably increased his learning curve, after he finished a solid seventh in practice for the opening round of Porsche PAYCE Carrera Cup at the Adelaide 500 today.
While the first session was curtailed after just two laps due to a nasty crash for three cars at the infamous Turn 8, Hill said the second session was far more productive.
“It was a shame the first session ended the way it did, but in the second session we had a clear run and were able to have a run on a new set of tyres,” Hill said.
“The GWR Australia relationship is already having benefits, especially being able to work with Dejan, the data engineer.
“He can understand the way the car is behaving from what he sees on the data traces, and he’s helping me break down aspects of my driving into small areas for me to work on.
“This weekend is all about continued improvements, and not trying too hard too early – as we saw in the first session today, this track can have dire consequences when things go wrong.”
