Canberra Carrera Cup racer Cameron Hill has praised his team after a strong day of practice behind the wheel of his Porsche 911, at The Bend Motorsport Park today.
Despite running on used tyres, Hill was second-fastest in both practice sessions and was happy with his improvements in performance between sessions.
“The car felt good when I rolled out for Practice 1, but we made a change for Practice 2 and it was even better,” Hill said.
“I don’t get too excited over practice times, but it is encouraging to roll onto the track with a car that’s quick straight away.
“Keeping on top of the evolving track conditions is a challenge, but hopefully the performance gains continue when we use new tyres for qualifying tomorrow.”
Hill was surprised by the lap times recorded in today’s sessions.
“Last year, pole position was a 1:51.3, and we’re already going faster than that on old tyres – it just shows how much the track has evolved since last year,” Hill said.
“The track will only get faster as more rubber is laid down, so I’m predicting some scorching times in qualifying tomorrow!”
Carrera Cup qualifying will be held at 10:55 tomorrow morning, with Race 1 at 2:15pm. Both sessions will be shown live on Fox Sports and Kayo.
