Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship leader Cameron Hill has gone third quickest in the sole practice session for the week at Mount Panorama.
In what was a 40 minute affair, the session ran stoppage free which allowed Hill and the CHE Racing team to work through their full programme. Hill was rarely seen outside the top five on the timing screen throughout the session and was the fastest driver until a couple of late laps in the session dropped him to third.
“We didn’t quite feel at home on the first set of tyres, but when we strapped the new rubber on, we sort of found our feet,” Hill said.
“It was a great session overall though, putting it up in P3 is a good start to the weekend. Bearing in mind it’s only Wednesday so we have a fair way to go, our final race isn’t until Sunday.”
“Qualifying and our first race tomorrow, we’ll tweak the car a little bit and then have a big crack in quali. It’s a short session and we need to get two fast laps in to set the grid for race 1 and then race 3, so there’s a little more urgency required,” Hill concluded.
The all important Qualifying session will be broadcast live on Fox Sports, along with the opening 11 lap race for the week. Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup will first hit the track at 11:20am with the race to take place at 3:45pm.
