Repco Supercars Championship rookie Cameron Hill is eager to continue his progression in front of a large crowd at the Rolex Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
For Hill, it will be the first time since he has raced at Albert Park since 2020 where he won the opening Porsche Carrera Cup Australia race before the event was cancelled the next day due to the global pandemic.
There have been changes since his last visit to Albert Park including to the circuit itself as Turns 9 and 10 have been altered to be a fast-flowing set of corners raising the average speed of the track significantly.
Hill left Newcastle with a straight Matt Stone Racing Chevrolet Camaro and a solid bank of points, though if it wasn't for a mistake late in race 2 a top 15 finish was a good chance.
Albert Park provides different challenges provided by the shorter race formats bringing harder racing and a higher intensity, while the Dunlop Super Soft compound tyre adds another twist.
With the alterations to the circuit ahead of the last year’s event, Albert Park holds the distinction of having the highest average speed on the Repco Supercars Championship calendar, a challenge Hill is excited for.
The Repco Supercars Championship will contest four races in support of the Rolex Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

“It’s a great event, which has an exciting atmosphere and buzz, so I’m very keen to get back there,” said Hill.
“The shorter race formats take out the unknown of the race fitness and having to for 500km, but I think the intensity level is definitely going to step up. Everyone knows there is less time to make things happen, so I think we can expect some pretty hard racing.
“They’ve taken some corners away since my last visit, which normally makes life easier, but I think it’s going to be pretty quick. I’ve heard Albert Park has the fastest average speed on the calendar and that is bound to get your attention. It will be good to get on the new layout and drive it first hand.
“We came into Newcastle with no expectations, the goal was to learn and to make sure we finished with a straight car, which we definitely ticked those boxes.
“At Albert Park we want to raise that bar a little bit, we definitely had pace in Newcastle and I’m starting to look at top 10 opportunities. That is going to become the goal from here on out, to keep on pushing up the order.
“I’m keen to get back to Albert Park as a Supercars driver and I’ll be soaking it all in that’s for sure.”
