Cameron Hill charges into Gold Coast on a points surge

Cameron Hill arrives less than 125 points off ninth place in the Drivers’ Championship as Supercars returns to the streets of Surfers Paradise this weekend.

Just two rounds remain in the 2024 season at the Gold Coast 500 and Adelaide 500.

Solid finishes in the final four races will undoubtedly put the Canberran in a strong position to leapfrog up the standings and wrap up what has been a highly impressive second half of the year.

In the past nine races Hill has enjoyed six top 10 finishes, knocking on the door of that maiden Supercars podium.

Hill’s remarkable rise in form was also highlighted during the two-event endurance campaign as he and Cameron Crick collected a pair of top 10s in the two longest races of the year.

Awaiting Hill this weekend is a highly challenging street course in Surfers Paradise - the 15-turn circuit’s fast chicanes and concrete walls often claiming a number of victims each year.

In his first time at the circuit as a Supercars driver last year, Hill ended the weekend with P23 and P15 respectively, and the Canberran will be looking to continue the narrative of the 2024 season by improving drastically on the results from his rookie season.

First practice begins on Friday at 12:30pm QLD time (13:30 NSW/ACT/VIC).

“It’s been good to have a few days off to recharge before one of my favourite events on the calendar,” said Hill.

“I love coming to the Gold Coast to race. The weather is awesome, the beaches are stunning and the vibes are great, so it’s definitely one of the cooler places we get to have a car race.

“Although the track itself is gnarly and super challenging for many reasons, I am looking forward to getting out there and tackling it.

“Now I have a year under my belt, and I am feeling far more confident of potentially cracking into that top 10 again this weekend.

“My motivation is to try to make these next rounds as good as I can and capitalise on what has been a really quick car all year.

“I feel like I’m driving at the highest level in my career so far — if we can finish with two strong rounds, then anything is possible.”
