After producing a breakout performance at Symmons Plains last year, Cameron Hill has once again enjoyed a solid weekend out on the Apple Isle as part of the 2024 Ned Whiskey Tasmania Supersprint.
Behind the wheel of the #4 Supaglass Chevrolet Camaro, Hill managed to pick up a number of impressive results throughout the weekend, including a strong top 10 finish on Saturday and a maiden milestone on Sunday
Hill sent the tone for his weekend early on Friday with the fourth fastest time in Practice one, before qualifying for Saturday's race in P6.
Starting the 55-lap affair on the third row, a consistent run and a good defence helped Hill hold position throughout the race to secure sixth place and score his second best-ever finish in Supercars, while Matt Stone Racing teammate Nick Percat claimed the victory.
Hill’s impressive form continued on Sunday morning when the Canberran posted the fastest lap in the event’s final Practice session to top the timesheets for the first time in his young Supercars career.
Ninth place in Qualifying then put Hill in a good position for back-to-back Top 10 finishes in the second outing of the round, only for a mistake early on in the race sending him to the back of the field.
Multiple Safety Car interventions, an alternative race strategy, good racing and some late overtakes helped Hill charge up the order during the dramatic 55-lap race, eventually reaching the chequered flag in P12 respectively.
As a result of his solid weekend, Hill managed to gain a position on the Repco Supercars Championship standings, moving into 15th overall.
With the Tasmanian Supersprint now complete, the Supercars field now turns its attention to the Endurance season, with Cameron Crick to join Hill for the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 on September 13-15.

“We had some seriously hard racing in our last outing in Tasmania,” said Hill.
“I completely stuffed the first lap, threw it off the road and we were in last place, but a Safety Car brought us back in the race. I got in a bit of a dog fight early on and didn't really make any ground before there was another safety car.
“We took on some more tyres and then we actually had a pretty good race from there. Went from last, back up to 12th, so a good recovery after a really bad start from me.
“There was a lot of good stuff to take away this weekend. It's the first time I've topped a session in Supercars, had two top 10 qualifying results, Nick got the win yesterday and obviously had another top 10 today, so a really strong weekend for the team.
"Everyone at MSR has been working so hard this season. It's really good to have weekends like this because it reminds us all that we are capable of some incredible results.
“I’ve really enjoyed my trip down here to Tassie and now it's time to focus on the enduros!"
