Breakthrough Supercars win for Cameron Hill at the Australian Grand Prix

What an incredible week! We have a lot to be proud of, my first Supercars podium, my first Supercars race win, MSR's first ever 1-2 finish. A week we will remember fondly!

The car was fast when we rolled it out of the truck, and we used the practice sessions well to learn what direction we needed to go with the setup. I was feeling good heading into the dual qualifying session, our #4 Dabble Chevy was a rocketship and we scored my best ever qualifying results with P3 and P2.

That set us up very well to bag some good race results. Race 1 on Thursday afternoon was filled with action at every corner. I had a lot of pressure to keep an angry pack at bay while the two Triple eight cars carefully managed the race ahead of me. After the safety car restart the guys behind started to fight, allowing me to skip away with the leaders and score my first ever podium.

It was an incredible feeling knowing that all the work that Matt Stone Racing and myself had put in was paying off. To finally get that chance to stand on the podium was proof that we’re going in the right direction.

If I thought Thursday was special. Friday was another level.

Starting on the front row, I realised the potential if I could beat pole sitter Broc Feeney to the first corner. That's what I focused on and that is exactly what happened. Nick snuck through to be second as well. With my teammate Nick behind me, we controlled the race with multiple safety car restarts for the team’s first ever one-two finish. An incredible achievement for our team!

I had to wait just over two years for my first Supercars podium. My next visit there was less than 20 hours, and this time, it was on the top step. Unreal.

Saturday’s Qualifying sessions saw us pick up P8 and another front row start for the final race. Although we were caught up in a lot of drama in Saturday’s race and ended up 9th, I was hopeful I could grab a result on Sunday and end on a high with another podium.

Unfortunately the heavy rain on Sunday morning prevented us from getting the opportunity as the race was called off. They still gave us the champagne, the team made sure it wasn't wasted!

A very successful week with big milestones for myself and the team. Looking forward to some down time to reflect and recover with Emily and Arlo.

Cheers everyone!
