On his 21st birthday, Cameron Hill has received the perfect present – one more Toyota 86 Series race victory at the Coates Hire Newcastle 500 to finish the 2017 season with another clean sweep.

In a similar scenario to yesterday’s two races, Hill resisted an early challenge from Steve Owen, along with a Safety Car intervention, to lead all 11 laps.

The Canberra driver finished second in the final standings and paid credit to his team for their efforts throughout the season.

“We’re only a small, family-run team but the preparation of my usedtrucks.sydney/National Capital Toyota/Anytime Fitnesss Toyota 86 was never anything less than 100 per cent, as demonstrated by our perfect record for reliability and exceptional car speed at every event,” Hill said.

“We had some bad luck during the year but we’ve certainly demonstrated our speed this year, and we can all be very proud of finishing second in a category as competitive as the Toyota 86 Series.”

This weekend’s race meeting has been confirmed as Hill’s last in the Toyota 86 Series; statistically, his tally of seven pole positions and 13 race wins cements him as the most successful driver in the category since its inception.

This season alone, he scored five pole positions, eight race wins and 10 fastest laps.

“The last two years have been really successful for us – as well as our excellent on-track results, we have also benefited significantly from the professional organisation, presentation and exposure of the series. We have been able to forge relationships which will serve us well for the next stage of my career.

Hill will announce his racing plans for the 2018 season in the coming weeks.
