Challenging weather conditions have not dampened Cameron Hill’s enthusiasm ahead of this weekend’s opening round of the Toyota 86 Racing Series at Phillip Island, the Canberra driver finishing third-fastest overall after today’s two practice sessions.
The first session was conducted on a damp but drying track, while the second session started in the dry but was affected by a late shower.
Hill was proud of the way his team adapted to the variable conditions.
“With the weather changing throughout the day, it was hard to know which way to go with car setup,” Hill said.
“In the first session, we had a wet setup and the track conditions improved as the session progressed, but in the second session we had a full dry setup installed, and when it started raining the car was quite tricky to drive.
“The times were very close between the top three at the end, and our car balance seems to improve when we fit new tyres, so I’m confident heading into qualifying tomorrow,” Hill concluded.
Tomorrow’s schedule includes qualifying at 10:50 followed by qualifying at 1:55 – both sessions will be shown live on FOX Sports 506.
