Cameron Hill has dominated the Saturday action in Round 2 of the Toyota 86 Racing Series on the streets of Townsville, smashing several records in the process.
The Southern Star Truck Centre/National Capital Toyota/Anytime Fitness Toyota 86 driver qualified on pole position by more than 0.7s – the largest pole position margin in T86RS history.
Hill then set the race lap record on his way to a 13 second victory in the race, the most comprehensive winning advantage ever seen in the category.
“We started with a good base setup in practice yesterday, and fine-tuned both the car and my driving techniques overnight,” Hill said.
“Qualifying went really well, we were able to find clear track early in the session and punch out some fast laps.
“In the race, I worked hard to build a margin and was helped by the cars behind battling for position.
“Overall, it’s been a perfect day today but in motorsport, it can all change very quickly – I know we have to work hard again tomorrow to continue this run of form,” Hill concluded.
Races 2 and 3 will be held tomorrow at 8:20am and 12:10pm respectively.
