Cameron Hill has driven his Southern Star Truck Centre/National Capital Toyota/Anytime Fitness Toyota 86 to the top of the timesheets in both today’s practice sessions for Round 2 of the Toyota 86 Racing Series at the Watpac Townsville 400.
Hill was almost half a second clear of the field in Practice 1, and although the times were slower in Practice 2, he was still fastest in the session.
“The car was quick out of the truck; we seem to have found a very adaptable base setup,” Hill said.
“In the first session the car was excellent and in the second session, I was punching out fast times even as the tyres started to exceed their optimum operating temperatures and pressures.
“It’s a very positive start to the weekend but we’re definitely not getting ahead of ourselves – we still have to get through qualifying and three races.”
Tomorrow’s Toyota 86 action consists of Qualifying at 9:30am and Race 1 at 11:25am - both races will be shown live on FOX Sports 506 and live timing will be available via the Cameron Hill Racing app.
