Consistency has been key in Cameron Hill’s rookie Dunlop Super2 season so far and he is looking to use that as a launch pad into the final three rounds of the year, starting at Sandown Raceway this weekend.
Hill enters the fourth round at Sandown this weekend second in the standings and only has his eyes on the top spot.
It will be a busy weekend for Hill, who will dovetail his Super2 commitments with a Friday drive in the main Supercars Championship with PremiAir Racing ahead of October's Bathurst 1000.
It was announced recently that Hill will join the experienced Chris Pither as part of the Coca Cola PremiAir Racing Holden ZB Commodore and will participate in the Supercars additional driver session on Friday.
This adds to the test day he completed in both his Supaglass Industries Triple Eight Race Engineering Super2 entry and the Coca Cola PremAir Commodore recently.
Completing so much time behind the wheel has provided Hill with great confidence entering the second half of the Super2 season. Team-mate Declan Fraser holds a 69-point advantage heading into the final half of the season, which will end on the streets of Adelaide in December.
Sandown is expected to throw up many challenges including the track surface, weather and the biggest field ever for the combined Super2/3 class at 35.
Action at the historic circuit situated in Melbourne’s metropolitan eastern suburbs will commence at 10:15am Friday for opening practice ahead of two races on Saturday and Sunday.

“It’s good to be racing at Sandown again, it’s a track I’ve really enjoyed racing at in the past,” said Hill.
“It’s a challenging circuit as the surface features new patches in different areas making every corner has its own uniqueness to it.
“Not only is it challenging because of the surface, but the weather always puts a spanner in the works.
“There’s a slight gap between Declan and I, but I think Townsville really showed us things change very, very quickly in Super2. The way the points are structured, it’s still pretty much anyone’s game in the top eight, but to be at the halfway mark and have only one driver ahead of us in the points is positive.
“I’m getting more and more comfortable every round in these cars, I am aiming to finish this season strong.
“It’s good to know that side of things is locked in now (Bathurst 1000 co drive), I can focus 100 percent on getting the result in Super2 this weekend and hopefully a bit more seat time again will put me in good stead when we get to Mount Panaroma.
“We had a really good test day at Queensland Raceway not long ago. We had a pretty big test program for the Super2 car, which we got through and definitely learnt lots. Then to finish the day with some laps in the PremiAir car was really cool, I was certainly feeling it the next day! You don’t get to drive these cars often, so to have a successful test where you get a lot of kilometres in is a really good thing.
“I feel race fit for Sandown, where I also have the additional driver session on Friday. Getting seat time in a Supercar is so valuable, and at different tracks will certainly help me.”
