Truck Assist Racing’s Cameron Hill has tested just prior to the season of endurance beginning with the Penrite Sandown 500 on September 15-17.
Joined by co-driver Jaylyn Robotham for the full-day at Queensland Raceway in what was a final systems check ahead of the endurance races at Sandown and the Repco Bathurst 1000 next month, the test enabled the pair to also gain crucial miles.
Hill encountered a minor problem when a wheel came loose, but he had the presence of mind to slow down to limit any further damage incurred. Although a setback, the team was back on track later in the day as it completed the rest of the planned schedule in the afternoon with Robotham at the wheel.
Preparations are now underway ahead of the Penrite Sandown 500 on September 15-17.

“We had a pretty busy day in Car #35,” said Hill.
“We ran through a number of items, some procedural stuff, some set-up stuff in the morning. We had a wheel come off, unfortunately, but it was only a minor inconvenience and the boys got it fixed up pretty quickly.
“Then we put Jaylyn in the car for most of the afternoon to log some laps and get his eye in. I’m looking forward to working on a few more things back at the factory tomorrow then we should be all good to go for Sandown next week.”

“It was a good day for me, it’s always great to be back in the car,” said Robotham.
“I did a longer run today and worked on saving the tyre because for the endurance races I’ll be doing a couple of stints. Just trying to work on my fitness as well and keep on top of it.
“It’s been good to spend the day with the MSR boys and really looking forward to Sandown.”
