Matt Stone Racing driver Cameron Hill will kickstart his 2024 racing season at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour, making his return to the event following a six-year absence.
Hill will be joined by new Repco Supercars Championship teammate Nick Percat and Trans Am competitor John Holinger in a Matt Stone Racing entered MARC GT contesting the Invitational Class.
Combined with the opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship for the first time, the Bathurst 12 Hour is Australia’s International GT race and will provide Hill with valuable track time prior to starting his second season in the main game.
Engineering the entry will be Percat’s 2024 engineer Jack Bellotti as the team will first sample the new MARC GT at Queensland Raceway on January 25 for an all-day test.
“When Round 1 of the Supercars season was announced to be at Bathurst the week after the 12 Hour, we knew it was going to be important to have a presence,” said Team Owner Matt Stone.
“We pushed hard to secure a drive for Nick and Cam at the 12 Hour, and were able to lock in an MSR entry with John Holinger.
“Given there are only two one-hour practice sessions for the Supercars event, that seat time for the drivers at the 12 Hour will make a big difference.
“Hopefully it means we can hit the ground running the following week.”
Hill last contested the event in 2018 when he joined Steven Richards Motorsport in a GT4 Class BMW M4 alongside Dean Grant and Xavier West to finish fifth.
Since then, Hill has won the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia title in 2021, the Hi Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour the following year and undertook his maiden Repco Supercars Championship season in 2023 with Matt Stone Racing.
The Repco Bathurst 12 Hour will be held on February 16-18.
