Matt Stone Racing driver Cameron Hill heads to Western Australia with high hopes to continue his rise in the Supercars ranks this weekend.
The #4 Supaglass Chevrolet Camaro driver is one of the most improved drivers of the 2024 season, having claimed two Top 10 Shootout appearances and one top five result from the three rounds so far.
While he has enjoyed some outstanding results in qualifying and races, he has also suffered from some hard luck, including last round in Taupo, New Zealand, where he entered pit lane in the top five and left the lane outside of the top 15 after a pit traffic jam.
According to Hill, the Perth round of the Repco Supercars Championship represents a great opportunity to continue to move forward – if he and the team can nail qualifying. Higher-than-usual tyre degradation is expected at the Wanneroo venue, underscoring the importance of the twin qualifying sessions.
Track action starts on Friday with one 60 minute session, followed by another practice session on Saturday morning, plus qualifying and racing on Saturday and Sunday.

“I feel really good heading to Perth,” said Cameron Hill.
“This year, our pace has been consistently stronger. I’ve scored a top 5 result and had two appearances in the Shootout. I feel like I’m operating at a higher level, but we also haven’t had everything go our way, so I’m looking forward to a clean week in Perth.
“But I’m happy where I’m at. As a team, we are in a pretty good place. I just need random stuff – like getting trapped in a pit lane jam – not happening.
“The pace is there. I’m looking at footage on how I was driving last year, and I think “wow, I was a bit rough around the edges.”
“Tyre degradation is always a hot topic in the West. Last year, the deg wasn’t too bad. The track surface got a refresh a couple of years ago, but we felt that it was better than we thought it would be.
“Now that the surface has another year under its belt, it can change a lot. It will make our Thursday track walk one of the most important of the year.
“We’ll get a good understanding of what the track surface is like on Friday. We’ll probably do a few race runs in practice to see what tyre deg we’ll be in for.
“Supercars is a qualifying championship. Yes, the races are long, but where you start has a massive effect on your race. When you are in the pack, you use your tyres so much more. When you are at the front, you have a much better chance of controlling your own destiny.
"You have to make sure that you have the car set up sorted, the tyres and nail your opportunities. It’s amazing that one tenth of a second can be the difference between good or bad!”
