Cameron Hill heads to the Repco Supercars Championship next season with a top five finish in Dunlop Super2 Series following a mixed weekend on the streets of Adelaide.
Making a popular return as the final round of the Dunlop Super2 Series, Adelaide began strongly for Hill as he qualified a consistent fourth for both 19-lap events.
With the championship still on the table, Hill and the Triple Eight Race Engineering crew completed a few tweaks before Race 1 which did the trick as the #111 Supaglass Industries VF Commodore proved to be one of the fastest entries during the opening event.
Hill was able to move forward to take his third podium of the season and further enhance his chances of a top three result in the season standings.
Losing positions in the opening lap shuffle of Race 2, Hill steadied in fifth until running wide at Adelaide’s Turn 8 and hitting the outside wall. The damage inflicted forced Hill into retirement for the first time this year as he emerged unscathed.
Finishing fifth in his first season of Supercars competition, Hill will now progress to the Repco Supercars Championship with Matt Stone Racing for season 2023.

“That’s the Super2 season done for 2022,” said Hill.
“Unfortunately, it finished in the worst circumstances for me, I got a bit loose at Turn 8 and hit the concrete for my first DNF of the season. It’s a bit of a shame to finish like that, but it’s been a great year and I’ve learnt a hell of a lot.
“It’s been a year of ups and downs. We’ve been on the podium a few times, a few incidents along the way, which hurt our championship. A big shout out to the team at Triple Eight Race Engineering, it was a pleasure to drive for them.
“I’m definitely keen to be making the step up to the main game next year with Matt Stone Racing. I feel like what I’ve learnt this year will hold me in good stead and hopefully we can kick off the year with a good result in Newcastle.
“A big shout out to all my sponsors; Supaglass Industries, MFW Trade Warehouse, Ship-Safely, Iconic American Imports, Higgins Property, Cooper Campbell Waterproofing, G&K and everyone else who played a part in the year. I thank you so much for making it happen and I'll catch you next year."
